A Good Fast
Abstain from . . .
worry, fear and anxiety about present or future circumstances.
Instead . . .
trust your Heavenly Father, and cast all your cares onto Him who has promised to work for your good.
Abstain from . . .
a haughty heart that criticizes, judges and demeans others.
Instead . . .
bless, honor, elevate and encourage. Be a wide open avenue for good.
Abstain from . . .
insisting that you alone can, or must, work out all your dilemmas.
Instead . . .
believe our all-wise God and ask Him for wisdom; who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given.
Abstain from . . .
giving space and time for any thoughts about your identity and value that contradict what God has declared about you.
Instead . . .
insist on the truth above your feelings. You are made clean and precious by Jesus' mercy and sacrifice. As a son or daughter, you are a holy one, chosen of God and dearly loved.
Abstain from . . .
complaining, murmuring and fault-finding.
Instead . . .
practice gratefulness and whole-hearted praise with thanksgiving and gladness of heart.
Abstain from . . .
keeping score and holding grudges.
Instead . . .
forgive fully and sincerely. Bless each and every person who may have offended you.
Abstain from . . .
the distraction of frivolous or wasteful activities.
Instead . . .
Make time to meditate, ponder and give place to that which nourishes your soul and unites with Life.
Abstain from . . .
all inner dialogs that weigh down, diminish faith or drain hope.
Instead . . .
keep your thoughts continually fixed on all that is authentic and real, honorable and admirable, beautiful and respectful, pure and holy, merciful and kind. And fasten your thoughts on every glorious work of God, praising him always. (Phil 4:8) TPT
