How we sometimes pray:
“O that I might get answers to prayer like Smith Wigglesworth got.” But do we give time to prayer – to develop and cultivate a heart of faith that will not quit until the answer has come?
“O, Lord, give me the skills to play piano like Ric Farr.” But do we employ the exercise and diligent practice required for God to multiply our efforts?
We must distinguish between wishes and prayers. Wishes are wisps of desire. Prayers are clear and deliberate and tenacious requests that take Jesus’ emphatic promise - ask and you shall receive, seriously. Prayer believes and expects that Jesus meant just what He said, and continues relentlessly until His promise is fulfilled.
