The worth of a conquered man's life is expressed by his conqueror. When rulers conquer other men they often decree,
“Your life means nothing to me. You will chop wood for me and carry water. The moment you fail to do so, I will snuff you out and regret only what little effort I expended to give the order.”
Jesus Christ is God's Conqueror. He comes in meekness. He offers terms:
“I will take your wages, that which you are due.
I was cut for you and hung on wood.
I carried your sins and sorrows.
I bore your pains and, with lashes many, won your healing.
Chopped and bruised for you, I was,
And hung on wood I carried.
I offer you My gift. Myself. My Life.
Should you shake My hand in trust and bow your knees and heart, you must never attempt to pay for this gift I give.”
Jesus is all in with this deal. By His words and deeds He states,
“You are worth everything to Me.
I do not merely spare your life, I honor and esteem it.
I do not force you to take My gift, yet here it is extended:
You have a place at my table every meal.
You have all the authority, privilege and honor of My Name.
The treasure and abundance of My house is all yours.
I count you, not a slave, but a king, a priest, a friend.
No good thing will I withhold from you.
You shall live in the joy of My presence now and through
endless ages, world without end.
You will forever be my esteemed and beloved treasure."
You chop wood and carry water for whomever you serve - self, satan, wealth or power. The tyranny of such masters is inexhaustible.
You will never get terms like Jesus offers from anyone in anyway at any time. Never. His conquering is our crown. Run to Him. Surrender now to the joy inexpressible, eternity’s present and permanent King.
