Is it ok to carry guilt for the lesser, smaller sins we’ve committed? But then to take the ones we cannot bear to look upon or mention even in the secret place of our thoughts - those shame-inducing, soul-crushing acts done and vicious words cast, and throw them onto the One only Savior, Jesus?
No. It’s not OK. It’s stupid and self-absorbed. And stupid and self-absorbed is actually easier, at first, than trusting that He who died for you - who forgives all your sins - did not pick and choose which sins to leave with you, and which to cover with His life’s blood and take into the grave.
Had there remained even one offensive deed, gross or vile intention, defiant or belligerent posture or blatant and proud rebellion left unconsumed, the grave had legal right to hold fast its grip upon the Prince of Life.
But alas, the all of grace, the all of God was offered once and utterly. The fire of God’s mercy incinerated every and all and forever, men’s iniquities and hostilities toward the Father of Goodness and Light.
The big or the small of your evil is not for further consternation. Only the exhaustive magnitude of God’s love made known to us in Jesus the Suffering Servant, the Exalted King.
Let go, now. Come home. Softly and tenderly, Jesus is calling - calling O sinner, come home.
