Delight yourself in the Lord for He is your joy unspeakable and full of glory, and He will give you the desires He has sown into your heart. Be reckless in praise and thanksgiving, in blessing and enjoying others. See how God draws in.
Be ridiculously joyous for a few years - balance out all those years of sadness, anxiety and solemnity. Go to extremes with gladness of heart and let God moderate if it's too excessive (if you exceed unspeakable joy). Relish the goodness of life God has given you.
Could He possibly despise that? Would you, as a father, rather your kids be downcast, frustrated and sullen. Go please your Father and Savior with a shining face and sparkling eyes that say, My Daddy is awesome! I love His goodness! I want to declare His wonders everywhere!
Do I really need to be above it all? To restrain my smile at something funny? To curtail my enthusiasm lest I appear childish or unsophisticated?
I could, instead, be celebrating before the King of Kings whose beaming countenance overwhelms me with favor. Literally, He rejoices over me with singing and shouts of joy - as though I were free, indeed.
