What God reveals to us is now accessible. The revelation is not the substance - it is the invitation, the permission and the ability to pursue and apprehend it.
I’ve suffered from dereliction of discipleship. Perhaps you have, too. What is that? It’s when we outsource our faith to friends, TV speakers, pastors, teachers or spouses, and say, ‘you go hear from God, then tell us what He said, and what to do.’ It’s essential that we learn from each other, that’s how we grow. But that can’t be the extent our walk with God. I’m saying that we, ourselves, must engage in our own discipleship.
Overmuch reliance on others results in unhealthy spiritual development. Others can believe with you, but not for you. Let's not forfeit the benefits of our inheritance.
Through Jesus, God called you out of darkness.
He called you a son or daughter.
He called you to be His witness in the earth.
He called you to glory and strength.
He forgave your sins.
He made you His habitation . . . that you might declare the excellencies of Jesus.
In deferring this rare and precious invitation we deprive others (and ourselves) of the streams of life - the portions of God Himself - that we were particularly designed to express.
Nobody, nowhere, no how can give God to others the same way you can. You, alone, set the limit for all He would do in and through you.
