What time I am afraid, I will sing of Your light and salvation and magnify Your love.
In sorrow, I will declare Your goodness.
When happy, I will lift up shouts of praise.
Troubled and anxious, I will speak of Your faithfulness and the certainty of Your presence.
In weakness, my tongue will proclaim Your might and your unfailing love.
Day by day in the stillness and storms of my emotions I will lift up my voice and my heart to You.
In this, I extol You with my whole soul. I tell my emotions that they are servants and not masters - that You are God.
In this, I present my emotions to be sanctified and made pure and responsive to the living, wholesome influence of Heaven’s climate.
God inhabits our praise. Let Him do this.
Let us remind our emotions that they do not dictate or dominate our faith.
Let us be deliberate in subjecting our emotions to our will to praise and call upon the Lord. In so doing God will strengthen and stabilize them, and make them instruments of adventure, controlled by the Holy Spirit.
