Every man, woman, boy and girl that walks the planet will someday cease walking. They will die. Each one will awaken to the judgement seat. Jesus Christ will pronounce their destiny - one that they have chosen. Some to everlasting torment in the hideous company of the wicked. Some to Heaven, to the glorious freedom of the redeemed, in the company of Father of Lights, the God of all comfort and joy.
You may resent the notion that these are the only two options. We dislike many things that we cannot change. You may accuse God of being unfair. “Why would God make mankind in the first place, knowing that he would fall into sin?” If the first man Adam rebelled, why must you bear the consequences for that? Why should you have to go to hell for what he did?
We see in nature that all things reproduce after their own kind. Dogs beget dogs. Birds beget birds. Adam and Eve were appointed father and mother of the human race. They used their power of self-determination to reject their Heavenly Father/Creator and be gods unto themselves. They severed themselves from the Spirit of Life and were fully altered. They became by nature subject to the law of sin and death.
They reproduced. That’s where we come in. Sure, they screwed things up initially. But we carry their nature. If we’re honest we’ll admit, ‘the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree,’ and we played a big part in our own mess.
Now you’re doomed - as if you’re drowning in a flood you didn’t cause with no hope of escape. I feel what you’re saying. It just seems like God wasn’t fair to you.
Then, something happens. While you’re treading water and gasping for breath, along comes a guy in a boat. He yells out to you. “Hey, you’re in trouble. Let me save you.”
But you, still smarting at the idea that you’re in deep water through no fault of your own, and miffed at God for letting it all happen, you yell back. “Hey, how do you know I’m in trouble? And, who the hell are you to presume you can save me. I don’t need you. I’ll save myself.”
And there you stay gasping and treading while your muscles succumb to fatigue.
So, it seems as if God was again, unfair? Seeing you in a desperate state He pities you and sends help. Did you deserve that? The man in the boat risks his own life to save yours. But your God is Unfair badge is sewn so firmly to your soul, you refuse His offer of mercy and salvation.
Fair, schmair. Hurry. Get in the boat.
