What I say to you today is far-fetched. You'll actually have to go really, really far to fetch it. Just got to ask you, is there actually anything that we possess by faith that isn't far-fetched to our natural eyes? Far-fetched means you've got to go a long way to get it. It's out of reach.
But what men call 'out of this world,' 'impossible,' or 'beyond our wildest dreams', is anything but far-fetched with God. Everything God the Creator gives is near you, at hand, on your tongue to declare it and within your heart to believe it.
Faith obliterates distance, bringing every promise (word) of God into your immediate, palpable present.
We have this burning, exasperating cry to have, to lay hold of, to possess that invisible certain thing. That thing - closer than our own breath - may as well be in another galaxy. 'If only we could see it more clearly,' we say. 'If only we could better understand.'
'If only,' is our distance; is our separation. Faith hears, 'the word of the Lord' and says, "Yes. Amen. Go. Do." No equivocation. Just humble, uncluttered participation.
Yes, faith cares not where or how far. Its only scope is here and now and yes and done. Being fully assured by God's promise to make him a father to many nations, Abraham lifted his hand to slay his only son and heir, convinced that God would raise Isaac from the dead to fulfill His covenant.
KNOWING this one God who calls non-existent things to materialize - from nowhere and never to here and now - is to possess all things. This and nothing less comes from our Father and Savior.
Indeed, He who His own Son did not spare, but on behalf of us all delivered Him up, how is it possible that He shall not with Him in grace give us ALL THINGS? Rm 8:32
