How does one persuade the water to flow over that which is already the Niagara Falls? How might a man coax mercy and notice from the God who has already, while we were still sinners, offered up his only Son to the whip and the thorns, the spikes and the spear - on our behalf?
How do we get God to feel our pains, our pressures, our afflictions. To wake up and notice our despair, who's already wrung out the last drop of his mercy through the Blood that washes away our iniquities? Who's given His back to the cutting whip to heal our ravaged hearts and our myriad wretched diseases?
And so, because of Your great lovingkindness and inexhaustible compassion, I come to You. I stand under the great waterfall of Your endless goodness. Under Your cascading mercy, favor, deliverance and victory - all that You purchased for me - I bow and receive. I look up to Your beaming face, into Your understanding eyes, and I say 'thank You'. I place myself in the way of all the goodness Your compassionate heart affords.
While we were estranged from You, while we were yet lost, while we were yet your enemies,
You loved us
You sought us
You found us
You bought us.
And now You keep us under the shadow of your wings, and You never stop doing us good.
