When a man insists on his own way, he decides that God is understanding and loving. ‘He wants me to be happy, doesn’t He?’
When a man gets his own way, he decides that God is cruel and unjust. ‘He could have saved me if He cared, couldn’t He?’
How one chooses to think about God, doesn’t actually change Him. God is perpetually disposed to our good:
For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.
God has always been pro choice. In a wonderful and terrifying way.
Wonderful, because He has sworn to honor our choices.
Terrifying, because He has sworn to honor our choices.
Because of His profound love and faithfulness, God urges us to choose well:
See, I have set before you today life and prosperity, and death and adversity . . .
So choose life in order that you may live, you and your descendants, by loving the Lord your God, by obeying His voice, and by holding fast to Him; for this is your life and the length of your days. (Deut. 30:15 & 19)
In Jesus Name, I entreat you as you're reading, to consider the promise of the wonderful God - His plans for (your) welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope. Make room in your heart today for the sky full of forgiveness, lovingkindness and true peace your Heavenly Father deeply desires for you.
