God's not mad at you for your rebellion, your impurity, your deceit, your cruelty, your bad behavior or your bewildering arrogance. On the contrary, God anointed Jesus with the Holy Spirit to accomplish a very specific assignment:
To bring good news to the afflicted;
To bind up the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to captives and freedom to prisoners
To proclaim the favorable year of the Lord
To comfort all who mourn,
Giving them a garland instead of ashes,
The oil of gladness instead of mourning
The mantle of praise instead of a spirit of fainting.
So they will be called oaks of righteousness,
The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified. Isa. 61.
Apparently, God's principal priority is the condition of your heart. If God's mad about anything, perhaps it's at the distorted message that presents Him as poised to 'take you out' at the first opportunity. Believing such a lie keeps you from the raging torrent of His blessing. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
Seeing as how God gets blamed for storms, diseases, calamities, and for 'allowing' all the evil in the world, could He not already have vaporized everyone who opposed Him if He so intended? A mirror proves with certainty that God's not out to destroy sinners. Jesus declares, I came to seek and to save those who are lost. Our moral failures, far from disqualifying us, put us first in line for His lovingkindness.
If you were to give God half a chance, you would find that He is ridiculously good, and merciful and welcoming. Like the best of fathers, His great pleasure is in our being strong and filled with joy. Think of your highest notions of goodwill toward someone you love or pity. Why would your heavenly Father not have an infinite measure of like affections towards you?
