Here's a quote I dug out from a notebook I was writing in China over twenty years ago.
It was on a scrap of paper. I'm sure it's from William Law.

Remember that you are an eternal spirit, that you are for a few months
and years in a state of flesh and blood only to test whether you will be
forever happy with God or fall into everlasting misery with the devil.

I was thinking lately about how being here on earth provides us with opportunities - tests that are unique to our present state. What things are only possible to do here while we are on the earth? Some might be:

This the last chance we have
... to live by faith
... to tell folks the Good News of Jesus Christ
... to display Him, that they might 'see Him in person.'
