Jesus restrained His disciples to wait for the Holy Spirit to lead and empower them to bear Him witness and appropriately declare His Kingdom. Without His Spirit, He knew they would simply apply what they'd learned from their natural abilities and would fail. They would imitate the forms and principles and employ words and methods within the scope of their own capabilities.
Given the chance men will exalt what they 'know' and 'can see' over the realities of the Spirit in the knowledge revealed by faith. So, Paul says the natural man 'cannot know' the things of God.
Virtually every step of the Christian life is predicated on taking unto yourself a reality that cannot be seen or proved by 'scientific method'.
- It is entirely a process of faith.
- Believing and receiving words.
- Acting upon them and thereby effecting their assimilation into your spirit, mind, and body.
- Calling those things that are not to surge into being.
- Transformation.
This Life is ALL miraculous. It is not merely a body of knowledge to master. It's a life to assume, to relish, to join, and to emanate.
