If even a tiny bit, you’d like to know your Creator’s thoughts, I have something big to tell you.
Go with me for just a moment. Let’s assume that since He made everything, that He has the wisdom and power to create or destroy anything, anywhere at any time. His options are without end.
Sadly, many people believe that God is cruel and unfair. That He takes pleasure in our misery. That thinking would surely grieve most parents.
Imagine if this God had just one chance to show His children the deepest passion of His heart, how would He do it?
In a display of overwhelming power, He could gain our attention with dancing stars or a swirling galactic light show. Or, He could wipe the earth away in a flash, make a new planet in a faraway place and start over.
With limitless possibilities at His command, here’s what He actually did: He sent His own Son to clearly present Him, so no one could mistake his intentions. In His first declaration the Son plainly said,
The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me,
because the Lord has anointed me
to bring good news to the poor;
he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim liberty to the captives,
and the opening of the prison to those who are bound;
to proclaim the year of the Lord ’s favor,
and the day of vengeance of our God;
to comfort all who mourn;
to grant to those who mourn in Zion —
to give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes,
the oil of gladness instead of mourning,
the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit;
that they may be called oaks of righteousness,
the planting of the Lord, that he may be glorified.
Please read this again and again, preferably aloud. Ask the Spirit that anointed Jesus to open to you the full weight and tenderness of your Father’s words. Read it until you hear His voice speaking into your innermost places.
And so through Jesus to His children - to you His dear one - He speaks . . .
Nothing in all the universe is more precious to My heart than the peace and wholeness of yours. Therein, My Beloved, is where I wish to dwell.
