Oh the weight, the burdens, the trials of the successful Blog writer. It’s a hard life, but I press on. I write poetry, commentary, inspirational encouragement and insights about the life of faith.
Many communicators gain and accept accolades for their ability to present well. They can articulate details about concepts and ideas which dazzle and inspire, without ever having acquired, apprehended or exhibited the realities of them.
Like an actor in a war movie, who’s never entered combat. A storyteller spinning tales of daring adventure and intrigue, who’s never hiked a mountain trail. Or, even a blogger talking bigger of God’s promises than he’s known of their acquisition.
Imagine Joshua parading on horseback before throngs of cheering onlookers, waving the deed to the Promised Land, if he'd never personally set foot in that land. An insight or revelation is a promise, a deed, an incitement. It is not yet a possession. A house not lived in, is a house not mine.
I want to keep seeing grand revelations of the extreme glories in the Kingdom of God. But I must write as a fellow sojourner pressing for the prize. I should be on guard about playing big, and living small.
Satisfaction with the idea of a thing over its substance is a fantasy, a self-delusion. Or, an even better word might be: religion.
