Sing the glory of His name;
Make His praise glorious.
Say to God, “How awesome are Your works! Psalm 66:2
We cannot make God bless us by praising Him with ALL OF OUR HEART, anymore than the engineer makes the water run when he opens the gates of the dam.
God doesn’t say, “cast some of your anxiety on Me.”
Or say, “I’ll forgive a bit of your sin.”
Would you marry someone who promised to love you “pretty much?”
If we are not bursting with joyful thanksgiving, we are blind and likely self-absorbed.
The extremity of the command, with all your heart, gives away the magnitude of the benefit - all of His Kingdom, all of His presence.
How far does He throw away our sins? As far as the East is from the West.
What is the measure of Christ’s love? Infinite height, depth, length, and breadth.
To emphasize such things does not deny life’s difficulties. Rather, it deliberately and forcefully asserts the immutable fact that,
He who lifts me is stronger, more delightful, and more permanent than that which weighs me down.
So, we say or hear in the market place, “Have you seen how horrible things are becoming?” We can see as well as the next person. But we have a greater reality to behold.
We can gladly and boldly declare:
- Have you seen my glory and the lifter of my head?
- Have you seen the Captain of the armies of the Lord of Hosts?
- Have you seen the One who rides across the heavens to our help?
- Have you seen Him to whom the nations are as a drop in a bucket?
- Have you seen Him laughing at those leaders of this world who counsel together and shake their fists at Him?
- Have you seen the Lamb of God who is able to save to the uttermost those who come to Him?
- Have you seen Him who was humbled on the cross, and now sits at the right hand of God?
- Have you seen Him whose eyes are like a flaming fire and on whose head are many crowns?
- Have you seen Him who is robed with majesty and armed with strength, who holds ALL authority in heaven and in earth?
- Have you seen the Prince of Life that was dead, and is alive forevermore - who holds the keys to death and hades?
If we cannot see these realities, how can we be exhilarated and transformed by them? Or, how can we genuinely display these riches to people we encounter, whether believers or not?
Has He not visited us today, and have you not seen Him? Do you still want to tremble at the price of gas? Shall we surrender our peace to needless worry?
Please take a moment today to read Psalm 103 - A Psalm of David.
After you have read it, offer it to the Lord with everything that is within you. Be reckless, ridiculous, lavish and vehement in your offering. Spend it!
Yes, make His praise Glorious.
