The world, the flesh and the devil are systemic operational principles in the earth. They do not change when a man or woman comes to know Jesus Christ. All the change occurs inside the New Creation. At one time we were unconsciously subject to the world, the flesh and the devil. When Christ took up residence in us in the power and presence of the Holy Spirit we were literally enthroned at His side in heavenly places. Now the world, the flesh and the devil are subject to us.
These entities do not simply fall apart and disintegrate as we walk by them or enter their territory. We must now displace them, enter, occupy and establish the new space that we have targeted for the kingdom of Jesus Christ. We do this by acting in Jesus’ Name and exerting the power and authority that He conferred upon us. The enemies must still be crushed and dispersed.. The difference is that in Christ we live empowered. We should remind ourselves of this and act as though it is true. Entering into new life in Christ alters us. The world remains the same - unless we engage it and subdue it according to our new reality.
The Christian assignment is to destroy the works of the devil. This involves intent and faith-filled action. A Christian does not have the luxury of standing around complaining about how bad things are in this world. He carries the remedy from the kingdom of heaven in his heart, in his mouth and in his hands of faith. Who do we imagine is going to do what we ourselves were called to do?
In the natural realm nothing moves without our exerting force upon it. In the unseen realm the same is true. We are commissioned to exert and to intentionally broadcast our faith. To proclaim, declare, conquer, destroy. We're to go into the world and preach, heal, release from prison, and do the works of God. Not everyone gets such an honorable privilege. Only the sons and daughters of the Mighty.
