Well, God had a plan.
His heart burned for His lost children.
They forfeited their inheritance . . .
the present and perpetual joy,
the immediate and continuous delight,
the full and flowing glory
in the perfect union of peace and love.
Believing he could enjoy a life more free and fulfilling, man separated from his source, he rent the union. He choked himself off from the breath that brought him forth - from the immutable Spirit of Life and all goodness. Man severed himself from intimacy with his Father and surrendered the dominion of his birthright.
He groped and grasped to fill the gaping lack. Blackened by the loss of his original light, his soul now shrieks and staggers. Swirling in hopelessness at his self imposed destiny - he denies his unbearable plight, and permanently clenches what remains of his formerly exalted state - a broken mind and body, a darkened reason and imagination. Now, he is irrevocably chained by his sovereign volition, to the law of sin and death, from which no path of return exists.
Who can deliver him from the body of this death?
In the eternal counsel the Almighty spoke, “I will make in man a new creation. I will breath into him a brand new nature. Who will go for us.”
The uncreated Light, the radiance of Eternity, the Eternal Son of His own heart stepped forward. “Here I am, O Father, send me.”
This was the one plan. God Himself, by the offering of a perfect life, would take unto Himself the extremity of curse and judgment rightly exacted upon men by the universal law of sin and death. The infinitly Sovereign God would make a sovereign decree. His salvation and redemption of mankind would be wrought by the agency of a Man of like nature. This was a one and done plan. No do-overs, no fall-backs.
The transaction would play out in the flesh and blood of man’s nature, under the chaos and dominion of demonic reign on terra firma. This Son of Righteousness, this Son of Man would claim or carry no powers from the unseen realms. He would walk in a man’s body, think with a man’s mind, feel with a man’s emotions, weep with a man’s tears. His name would be Jesus. He would believe in God with that same faculty of faith present in the heart of every man. All His assignment must be accomplished as an ordinary man, with and ordinary heart, singularly set to please His Heavenly Father. He would do, could do, nothing that a similar man with a like heart-set could not do.
The whole process of Jesus’s life would perfectly explain God - His will, the motives of His heart, His design and intention for all mankind. No one has seen God at any time; the only begotten God who is in the bosom of the Father, He has explained Him. Jn 1:18
Jesus displayed/modeled how a man rightly related to God would live. He showed what is possible for everyone who believes. He did this among people in a culture steeped in God’s words as spoken through His servants. God had given them all the instruction and assistance needed. Because their hearts and spirits were enslaved by a rebellious nature, they were incapable of union with God in their present condition. The old nature must die.
Being appointed for this purpose Jesus, by living free of all sin, could offer Himself a substitute for every man. And when natural (and seeming insignificant) acts committed on the earth are mixed with faith, they unite with a corresponding counterpart in the unseen realm. Once linked, they explode with a cataclysmic eternal impact - altering heaven and earth and resetting the trajectories of the destinies of men and nations. In other words, the obedient life Jesus lived by faith pleased the Father, and connected to His eternal will. When the eternal words and works of the Almighty God which exist in the unseen Kingdom of Heaven find a corresponding expression in the earthly realm, they unite. And when that happens, the unmeasurable power and substance of the unseen bursts into the physical dimension.
Having subdued the world, the flesh and the devil, Jesus offered His perfect life to the Father. Not a sin, a curse, a disease, a rebellion, a falsehood - not one human malady or offense remained unconsumed by the Life freely offered for every man and woman, forever.
The God and Father of all life concurred. All judgment for all men, for all time is placed on His own Son - His own Life. All authority in Heaven and on earth is given to Jesus - King of Kings and Lord of Lords. With this authority came the right to initiate a new creation. The new race of mankind is born of God, made alive, nourished, sustained, and empowered by the breath of His mouth.
All that was lost was found. The children of men were brought home again, to the bosom of their Father.
The Son of Man rose from the dead and sat down at the right hand of the eternal Majesty. The new creation, purchased by his blood, would delight to do His will. They would continue living His life in their bodies in the earth. As His body, they would destroy the works of the devil, and they would establish righteousness in the earth. His Body would be His own dwelling place. Being filled with the very same Spirit and power that raised Him from the dead, His body would walk and speak and live in His Name. They would carry His authority. Their words and deeds would be as His own. They would present their merciful Father to an orphaned planet. They would be the way of the Lord, through whom the glory of the Lord shall be revealed. The would herald the astounding Gospel of Jesus’s salvation in all the world.
The angels are aghast. The galaxies reel and spin in cosmic awe, in eternal worship. Behold the glory and goodness, the wisdom and mercy of the Father of Lights. A brand new creature, made in the image of God. A man born of God, not of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man. Sons and daughters washed in the Blood of the Lamb. Free. No weapon formed against them can prosper. Absolutely free of every encumbrance and obstruction that could separate them from their Father.
What no eye has seen, nor ear heard,
nor the heart of man imagined,
what God has prepared for those who love him —
these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit.
In such a state the Lord Himself declares,
The Father loves you, as He loves Me.
Ask Him for anything in My Name and He will give it to you.
Fear not little children, it is the Father’s good pleasure to give you His kingdom.
God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself.
As Christ is presently, so are we in the world.
Jesus himself breathes into us saying, receive the Holy Spirit. Just as the Father sent Me, in the same way I send you.
This is God’s plan. There is none higher. There is none other.
