There is a law.
It operates in the fabric of the universe
And in the heart of man.
In you and in me.
It is wonderful and magical
It is terrifying and unforgiving.
It is perpetual and inescapable.
No man is so clever
So nimble
So cool
So as to elude or outwit this principle.
Nor will its effects be stayed for ignorance
For frailty, folly, or fancy.
It is the law of life in a seed.
The fearsome power and presence of God
Is the force behind the tiny seed.
All the fullness of its future is packed and hidden neatly
Within a hard protective case.
The life that will come forth can only ever be
Of the character, color and kind
The seed has always been.
The seed of life from Christ in you has burst open
And is set to manifest His life
From you
His living child.
Another seed was planted at your birth.
The seed, that in every natural man
Grows to its natural end,
Is always in a conflict
In the garden of your heart.
Like night and day are opposites,
So too, these seeds within.
Though, like dusk and dawning, they are hard to tell apart.
When they reach their full expression
Their true nature cannot be mistaken.
And here is the wonder and the fear.
That when you plant and feed and nurture
The seed of life in Christ,
The goodness, mystery and glory within
Will unfold with more certainty
Than that you stand right here on the earth.
And terror of all terror
The end that’s no less sure -
The seed of flesh and nature
Will day on day produce
A crop so pleasing to this world,
But altogether unfit
For entry into the Kingdom made without hands.
God is the power behind each seed
And He grants us sovereignty to choose.
Be certain,
Bet your life upon the fact
That no matter how things may appear,
Or who may or may not agree
God cannot be mocked.
No man, who chooses to sow unto his flesh,
Can hope to have a living end.
What else could he expect?
Sow and water and feed
The seed that leads to life.
And as sure as day follows night
In the proper season
The fullness of its flower shall bloom,
Its fruit plainly . . . and gloriously displayed.
