The Strangler
When cares of the world
Get hold of your head
Think much of your Savior
Make simple instead.
When cares of the world
Lay claim to your eyes
Gaze toward the hills
That your Help may arise.
When cares of the world
Entangle your heart
Jettison the garbage
And make a pure start.
When cares of the world
Have stolen your joy
Came in to befriend you
Set out to destroy;
Now crush without mercy
For all is at stake
That showed itself harmless
Was the steel-eyed snake.
When cares of the world
Are strangling your life
Your breathing gets strained
And all seems a strife
Open the parable
Of seed, thirty-fold
Believe in His goodness
And do what you’re told.
