Is it not false for a man to reject the truth because he sees its practitioners as flawed or hypocritical - and wouldn't deign to identify with them, yet will not himself seriously and honorably commit to that truth?
Is it not insincere for a man to excuse himself from submitting to a truth for fear of being associated with its defective or paltry proclaimers - while he himself could become, for them, the very example of one who earnestly embraces and adheres to that truth with integrity?
Is he not displaying the very pretense he detests? He avoids embracing and living up to that which he believes to be true, while claiming a superior virtue over others for their imperfect devotion to the same.
The verity of a law or truth is not altered by how widely or well it is regarded, but is rather the standard or plumb line for those who purport to believe and pursue it.
