The truth will make you free. John 8:32b

Let me rephrase the statement to emphasize what I think is implied but not spoken: “Belief and acceptance of the truth will make you free.”

The Israelites had the word of God preached to them to no avail, because it was met with unbelief.

We should look seriously at what we call the truth. Then we should ask of ourselves this question: 'Does my behavior and my inner attitude confirm that I really believe it?'

Every word Jesus spoke was true. The degree to which we receive it, obey it, and present ourselves to the Spirit’s work in conforming us to it, we are made free.
