Jesus claimed to be the way, the truth and the Life. The Everlasting Father's sole message and means to reunite with His lost children. History records that His words and conduct were unlike any ever displayed in the earth.
He makes extreme demands. He promises present and eternal rewards. Jesus is either all He said, or a fraud.
You cannot verify His claims by common sense, scholarly review or scientific method. You can only validate His claims by meeting His requirements.
Everyone wants to have a say if this or that is so. It's not like sitting in on the professor's ethics class, or deciding between factions in a war movie. From the cool, insulated vacuum of your own mind you pronounce judgements on matters where others have spilt sweat, tears and blood. Is there a reason anyone should regard the direction of your thumb?
Jesus never asked anyone to "poke and prod and dabble around a bit; then let Me know what you think."
No. The only deal He ever offered was dangerous: 'ALL aboard! This train ticket costs everything. Your faith in Me takes you everywhere I've promised.'
The mystery, the irony, of faith is that without full engagement with Jesus's stated terms, you cannot obtain His stated outcomes. You must play chicken with your perceptions of reality.
You must swim so far from the shoreline of your own proud intellect, world view, and cowardly group think, that no energy remains for the swim back. Therein is the posture for great reward. There, your prize is imminent.
Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote;
"Tis man's perdition to be safe,
When for the truth he ought to die."
