For God, who said, “Light shall shine out of darkness,” is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.
We have this treasure in earthen vessels - that the excellency of the power may be of God and not of us.
2 Cor.4:6
What do we have? We may readily proclaim, 'Come to Jesus. He'll forgive your sins and live inside you.' But, what happens from there?
This God who raises the dead and calls the things that are not, to surge into being says, "let light shine out of darkness." This is declaration, revelation, manifestation of a substance, an entity, a palpable, breathing Person. - the true light that lights every man who comes into the world.
This light is the knowledge of the Glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ; a knowledge revealed, disclosed, imparted. It is the Glory of God in the person of the Glorified Christ - seated at His right hand with absolute authority.
Jesus, Himself, is the treasure choosing to abide in earthen vessels, in the excellency of His power.
Is this the Gospel we believe? Do we wear such words well?
Did Peter mean anything but this when he declared to the man lame from birth,
What I have I give you; in the Name of Jesus of Nazareth, stand up and walk?
He had more than right doctrine. Inside Peter was the Treasure who carried out of the word spoken in His name.
