God's Not Mad
God's not mad at you for your rebellion, your impurity, your deceit, your cruelty, your bad behavior or your bewildering arrogance. On the contrary, God anointed Jesus with the Holy Spirit to accomplish a very specific assignment:
To bring good news to the afflicted;
To bind up the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty . . .

Life in the Old Covenant is given you on a canvas containing a large and detailed paint-by-the-numbers template. Stay within the lines, lest you fall from favor, into judgment. At best and from a distance, the image appears orderly and recognizable. At close range it looks rudimentary,stilted and rote.
The New Covenant presents life . . .
Delight
As though I were free
Delight yourself in the Lord for He is your joy unspeakable and full of glory, and He will give you the desires He has sown into your heart. Be reckless in praise and thanksgiving, in blessing and enjoying others. See how God draws in.
Be ridiculously joyous for a few years - balance out all those years of sadness, anxiety and . . .
FOR Me

and disclose Himself to me?

Desire Fulfilled - Tree of Life
A promise gives birth to a desire. Desire grows up and apprehends its creator.
I was thinking today of how enthralled Cosette (my granddaughter) is with horses. She reads books about caring for them. She imagines having one. Her desire/love for a horse is virtually palpable.
As I considered how this desire impacts her . . .
